10th and 12th Public Exam: Government Issues New Name Entry Rules for Students

The Directorate of Government Examinations has issued important instructions regarding the registration of names and initials of students appearing for the Class 10 and Class 12 public examinations.

The department has directed that students’ names must be entered exactly as they appear on their birth certificates.

In a communication sent to all district education officers, Director of Government Examinations Sasikala stated that the student’s name should match the name mentioned in the birth certificate.

Students should also note that no full stop should be placed between the name and initials. Only a space should be provided between them. If a student has two initials, there should be only one space between the initials.

The department has further clarified that if corrections are required based on the birth certificate, only the specific letters that need correction can be modified in the student’s name.

Students and schools have been advised to ensure that the name and initials are entered correctly while completing the public examination registration process.
