Metro Crane Breakdown Causes Heavy Traffic on Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai in Chennai

Traffic movement was severely affected in Mylapore and Royapettah on Friday morning after a giant crane transporting equipment for Chennai Metro Rail works broke down on Dr. Radhakrishnan Salai. The crane, which was being moved from Marina Kamarajar Salai to the Metro tunnel construction site at Luz Junction, came to a halt in the middle of the road due to a mechanical fault.

Traffic police diverted vehicles by converting one lane into a two-way route to ease congestion. However, office commuters, school students, and motorists faced significant delays during the morning peak hours. Chennai Metro engineers later arrived at the spot and began repair work to restore normal traffic flow.
