Private Milk and Curd Prices to Increase in Tamil Nadu from Tomorrow

Private milk and curd prices in Tamil Nadu are set to increase from tomorrow (July 9), with the price hike announced by Arokya.

Milk production has declined significantly across the country, leading to shortages in several regions. The lack of summer rainfall has resulted in a shortage of cattle feed, which has further affected milk production.

Over the past year, milk production has reduced in southern states including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Puducherry. As a result, competition among leading private dairy companies for milk procurement has increased, and companies have been offering higher procurement prices to milk producers.

Due to these factors, private milk companies had increased prices by up to Rs 2 per litre in February. Now, citing the rise in vehicle fuel costs and increased prices of raw materials required for milk production, companies have once again decided to increase milk and curd prices.

Accordingly, Hudson Agro Products, which markets Arokya products, has announced that the revised prices of Arokya milk and curd will come into effect from tomorrow.

The revised prices are as follows:

- 500 ml toned milk price increased from Rs 29 to Rs 31

- 500 ml standard milk price increased from Rs 35 to Rs 37

- 500 ml full cream milk price increased from Rs 39 to Rs 41

- 1 litre toned milk price increased from Rs 54 to Rs 57

Similarly, the prices of Arokya curd, Hudson curd, and other curd products have been increased by Rs 2 for 500 ml packs.

Reports indicate that other private dairy companies are also planning to increase the prices of milk, curd, and related products.
