Tamil Nadu Weather Today: Heavy Rain Likely in 5 Districts; Chennai and Other Cities Record Temperatures Above 100°F

The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, has forecast heavy rainfall in five districts of Tamil Nadu today, even as several parts of the State continue to experience above-normal temperatures.

According to the latest weather bulletin, maximum temperatures across many parts of Tamil Nadu are currently 2°C to 3°C above normal, resulting in hot and humid conditions in several districts.

Heavy Rain Forecast for 5 Tamil Nadu Districts

The weather department has predicted heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds in the following areas:

- Nilgiris
- Theni
- Kanniyakumari
- Hilly regions of Coimbatore
- Hilly regions of Tirunelveli

Wind speeds are expected to range between 40 and 50 km/h during thunderstorms in isolated places. Residents in these districts are advised to remain cautious and follow weather advisories issued by local authorities.

Temperatures Cross 100°F in Several Cities

While rain is expected in the western and southern hill districts, intense heat continues to affect several parts of Tamil Nadu.

The maximum temperature exceeded 100°F (37.8°C) in the following locations:

- Chennai (Nungambakkam)
- Cuddalore
- Madurai City
- Madurai Airport
- Palayamkottai
- Parangipettai
- Tiruchirappalli

The prolonged heat has increased discomfort levels, and people are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours, and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
