A low-pressure area is expected to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal on May 11, according to the Meteorological Department. Due to the developing weather system, several parts of Tamil Nadu are likely to receive widespread rainfall in the coming days.

Heavy rainfall was recorded across multiple districts on Saturday, with Oothu in Tirunelveli district receiving 17 cm of rain. Other areas including Nalumukku, Kakkachi, and Manjolai also witnessed intense showers.

Officials stated that an upper-air cyclonic circulation over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Sri Lanka region is influencing the weather pattern.
