CM Vijay Announces Olympic City and Motor Sports City in Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has announced that a world class Tamil Nadu Olympic City and a new Motor Sports City will be established in the state.

The announcements were made by Chief Minister Joseph Vijay in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on Thursday under Rule 110.

Tamil Nadu Olympic City

A world-class Tamil Nadu Olympic City will be established in Chennai through the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.

The Olympic City will feature world-class sports arenas, advanced sports equipment, a High Performance Training Centre, sports science and sports medicine centres, and accommodation facilities for athletes and coaches.

The facility will serve as an integrated, world-class sports centre aimed at helping athletes from Tamil Nadu win more medals at the Olympic Games and other international sporting events. It will also focus on developing talented athletes capable of winning Olympic medals.

New Motor Sports City in Tamil Nadu

A new Motor Sports City will also be established in Tamil Nadu. It will feature an international-standard motor sports racing track, modern infrastructure and training facilities.

The city will have infrastructure required to host international-standard competitions such as Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula 4.

The initiative will identify young motor sports talent and provide training and competition opportunities to help develop athletes capable of competing at national and international levels.

The development of world-class motor racing facilities is also expected to create opportunities for tourism, specialised automobile manufacturing, employment and economic growth in Tamil Nadu.
