CM Vijay Announces ₹53,866 Crore Infrastructure Push for Power and Semiconductor Sectors

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Monday announced a major multi-crore infrastructure investment plan covering the power, semiconductor and logistics sectors across the state.

The initiatives are aimed at strengthening Tamil Nadu’s power grid, manufacturing capacity and technology ecosystem, while supporting long-term industrial and economic growth.

₹33,066 Crore for Tamil Nadu Transmission Improvement Scheme

Chief Minister Vijay announced that ₹33,066 crore has been allocated for the Tamil Nadu Transmission Improvement Scheme.

Under the scheme, the state plans to establish 196 new substations and lay around 15,000 km of power transmission lines. The expansion is expected to strengthen the state`s electricity transmission network and support the growing power requirements of industries and other sectors.

₹20,800 Crore Thermal Power Project in Thoothukudi

A 1,600 MW Super Critical Thermal Power Station will be established in Thoothukudi (Tuticorin) under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The project involves an estimated investment of ₹20,800 crore and is expected to further strengthen Tamil Nadu`s power generation capacity.

The announcements form part of a broader infrastructure push aimed at supporting industrial development, power infrastructure, semiconductor manufacturing and logistics in Tamil Nadu.
