1,805 Special Buses to Operate from Chennai Kilambakkam for Weekend Rush

To manage the increased passenger demand during the upcoming weekend, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) and State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) will operate 1,805 special buses from Chennai Kilambakkam and other major bus terminals over the next three days.

The additional services have been arranged for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to accommodate the heavy flow of passengers travelling to their hometowns for the weekend.

Additional Buses from Chennai Kilambakkam

From Kilambakkam Kalaignar Centenary Bus Terminus (KCBT), special buses will operate to several major destinations, including:

- Tiruvannamalai
- Tiruchirappalli
- Kumbakonam
- Madurai
- Tirunelveli
- Nagercoil
- Kanniyakumari

The transport department has announced:

- 430 special buses on Friday in addition to the regular services.
- 465 special buses on Saturday over and above the scheduled operations.

Special Return Services on Sunday

To facilitate the return journey of passengers travelling back to Chennai after the weekend, 410 special buses will operate from various districts to Chennai on Sunday.

Strong Passenger Demand

According to the Tamil Nadu State Express Transport Corporation, around 8,570 passengers have already booked tickets for Friday`s services, indicating a significant increase in weekend travel demand.

Special Monitoring Arrangements

The transport department has deployed special officers at major bus terminals to monitor the operation of the additional buses, assist passengers, and ensure smooth travel during the busy weekend period.

The deployment of 1,805 special buses is expected to ease congestion, improve passenger convenience, and ensure safe and comfortable travel between Chennai and major destinations across Tamil Nadu during the weekend.
