The Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Ninaivu Marriage Assistance Scheme I is a welfare initiative implemented by the Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Department to provide financial support to economically disadvantaged families for their daughters’ marriages.

Under the scheme, eligible brides who have studied up to Class 10 can receive ₹25,000 in financial assistance along with an 8-gram, 22-carat gold coin. The scheme is intended to support families facing financial difficulties and encourage girls to continue their education.

Benefits

Eligible beneficiaries receive:

- ₹25,000 financial assistance, provided through Electronic Clearing Service (ECS).

- One 8-gram (one sovereign) 22-carat gold coin.

In the event of the death of the bride’s parents, the assistance can be provided directly to the daughter.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

- The family’s annual income must not exceed ₹72,000.

- The bride must be 18 years or older.

- The groom must be 21 years or older.

- The bride should have studied up to Class 10.

- For brides belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community, a minimum education of Class 5 is accepted as a special provision.

- Only one girl from a family can receive assistance under the scheme.

- The scheme applies to marriages conducted from May 17, 2011 onwards.

Documents Required

Applicants generally need to submit the following documents:

- Income Certificate

- Community Certificate

- Marriage Invitation

- School Certificate

- Class 10 Marksheet

- Ration Card

- Transfer Certificate or age certificate of the groom

- Passport-size photographs of the bride’s mother, bride, groom, and the groom’s parents

- Bank Passbook

- Aadhaar Cards of the bride’s parents

How to Apply Offline

Step 1: Visit the District Social Welfare Office and obtain the application form from the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) or the concerned authority.

Step 2: Fill in all required details, attach a passport-size photograph signed across, and enclose copies of the necessary documents.

Step 3: Submit the completed and signed application form along with the required d documents to the District Social Welfare Officer.

Step 4: Collect the receipt or acknowledgement confirming successful submission of the application.

How to Check Application Status

Applicants can contact the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) to enquire about the status of their application.

Grievance Redressal

At the district level, beneficiaries can approach the District Collector or District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO).

At the state level, grievances can be addressed to the Director of Social Welfare, Chennai.
