CMRL Signs ₹268.80 Crore Contract for Integrated Metro Development at Sholinganallur and Thoraipakkam
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has signed a ₹268.80 crore contract for the design and construction of integrated metro station entry and exit structures with commercial spaces at Sholinganallur and Thoraipakkam Metro Stations.
The project includes civil works, architectural finishes and the development of transit oriented commercial buildings. A 3-basement + ground + five - floor commercial complex will be built at Thoraipakkam, while a ground + eight-floor commercial building will come up at Sholinganallur. Notably, the link line between Corridor 3 and Corridor 5 will pass through the Sholinganallur development, providing direct station access from the commercial facility.
The contract has been awarded to M/s Bridge and Roof Company (India) Limited. The agreement was signed in the presence of Thiru M.A. Siddique, I.A.S., Managing Director, CMRL. Senior CMRL officials were also present.
Once completed, the project will enhance station accessibility, improve commuter convenience and generate additional non-fare revenue, reinforcing CMRL’s focus on transit-oriented development and sustainable urban growth along Chennai’s IT corridor.
