Tamil Nadu to Build New Secretariat and Assembly Complex in Chennai at Rs 1,200 Crore

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has announced that a new building complex housing the State Assembly and Secretariat with modern facilities will be constructed in Chennai at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore.

The announcement was made in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly under Rule 110 during the ongoing Budget Session. The Chief Minister also announced several other major initiatives, including the establishment of a world-class Tamil Nadu Olympic City and a new Motor Sports City in the state.

Tamil Nadu Olympic City

A world-class Tamil Nadu Olympic City will be established in Chennai through the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.

The facility will include world-class sports arenas, advanced sports equipment, a high-performance training centre, sports science and sports medicine centres, and accommodation facilities for athletes and coaches.

The integrated sports centre is intended to help Tamil Nadu athletes win more medals at the Olympic Games and other international sporting events. It will also focus on developing talented athletes capable of winning Olympic medals.

New Motor Sports City

A new Motor Sports City will be established in Tamil Nadu with an international-standard motor sports racing track, modern infrastructure and training facilities.

The city will have infrastructure to host international-standard competitions such as Formula 1, Formula 2, Formula 3 and Formula 4.

The initiative will focus on identifying young motor sports talent and providing training and competition opportunities to develop athletes who can compete at national and international levels.

The development of world-class motor racing facilities is also expected to create opportunities for tourism, specialised automobile manufacturing, employment and economic growth.

New Secretariat and Assembly Complex in Chennai

A new modern administrative complex comprising the State Assembly and Secretariat will be constructed in Chennai over an area of 20 lakh square feet, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore.

The complex will be developed with modern administrative facilities, including fire safety systems, accessibility facilities for persons with disabilities and compliance with green building standards.

The new complex will also include adequate parking facilities, conference halls, public service centres and modern amenities for government officials.

All government departments will be brought together and integrated within a single administrative complex to improve coordination and administrative efficiency.
