It is highly necessary that babies must be born with the correct weight. If not, they could get certain health complications.
Information gathered is that the healthy birth weight for babies ranges from 2.5kg to 4.5kg approximately. Underweight babies are those with birth weight below 2.5kg. It is well known that babies are very precious to their parents.
The news is that a new medical insurance scheme would be implemented by the Tamil Nadu government to take care of the underweight babies. This was announced by the health minister of Tamil Nadu Mr. M. Subramanian.
Yesterday, the health minister was busy inaugurating 16 new medical blocks at a cost of Rs 11.62 cr in the Tanjore Medical College in Tamil Nadu. He also laid the foundation stone or adikal for the 13 new buildings that would be constructed at the cost of Rs 7.45 cr for the financial year 2025-26.
The health minister later spoke about how the public have more trust now in the government hospitals across TN. Truth is that this has been shown by the increase or double the number of patients in the government hospitals now.
Every year across TN, about 9.50lakh deliveries take place. About 50000 babies are born with underweight or low birth weight. It is superb to note that the TN govt would implement a new medical insurance scheme to monitor and take care of the babies born with low weight.
