Study in Korea 2026: First Chennai Education Fair Attended by Minister

Chennai: The first-ever Study in Korea Education Fair in Chennai was held on September 20, 2026, providing students with an opportunity to learn more about higher education options in South Korea. The official Study in Korea website confirms that the event was held at The Leela Palace Hotel from 9 AM to 5 PM.

The event was organised by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea, the National Institute for International Education (NIIED), and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Chennai. Tamil Nadu Minister P. Viswanathan inaugurated and visited the education fair.

Representatives from 12 Korean universities participated in the Chennai edition of the fair. The participating institutions included universities from different parts of South Korea.

The event provided a platform for students to obtain information about higher education opportunities in South Korea and interact with representatives of Korean universities.

Following the education fair, discussions involving representatives of Tamil Nadu and Korean higher education institutions were also scheduled to explore academic cooperation. Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were also expected to be exchanged to strengthen educational collaboration.

The Chennai event was part of the Study in Korea Education Fair programme organised by the Korean government. The fair had previously been conducted in Delhi and was held in Chennai for the first time in 2026.
