Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay is set to embark on his first official overseas visit on September 10, travelling to London via Dubai to promote Tamil Nadu as an attractive investment destination.

During his stay in London, the Chief Minister is expected to meet industrialists from European countries and encourage them to set up new businesses and make major investment commitments in Tamil Nadu.

CM Vijay will depart from Chennai on an Emirates Airlines flight tomorrow night. Authorities at Chennai Airport are making security and protocol arrangements for his departure, with a high-level Advance Security Liaison meeting scheduled to finalise the preparations.

A delegation of senior officials from the state`s Industries and Finance departments will travel ahead of the Chief Minister to make arrangements for the bilateral meetings in London. Some officials are expected to leave before CM Vijay.

Before leaving for London, Vijay will chair the second alliance coordination meeting today at the TVK headquarters in Panaiyur, Chennai. The meeting is expected to discuss the structure and functioning of the ruling alliance, including the preparation of a Common Minimum Programme, formation of a steering committee and finalisation of an official name for the alliance.

Invitations have been sent to all partners of the TVK-led alliance, which includes the Indian National Congress, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, Indian Union Muslim League, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Communist Party of India and Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Major allies, including Congress, VCK, IUML and MDMK, have confirmed their participation, while the Left parties are expected to stay away from the meeting.

The London visit comes shortly after the Vettri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026, where the state government secured investment commitments worth Rs 1,02,514 crore through 104 Memoranda of Understanding.
