Gold prices in Chennai, which have been touching new record highs in recent days, eased slightly in the evening trade today. Earlier in the morning, 22-carat gold jewellery rose by ₹320 per sovereign to ₹1,02,960, while the price per gram increased to ₹12,870.
However, in the evening session, gold prices declined due to profit booking. The price of 22-carat gold fell by ₹560 per sovereign to ₹1,02,400, and the per gram rate dropped by ₹70 to ₹12,800.
Silver prices also witnessed a correction. After rising sharply in the morning to ₹2.83 lakh per kilogram, silver prices slipped by ₹6,000 in the evening to ₹2.77 lakh per kilogram. The per gram silver price declined from ₹283 to ₹277.
Despite the intraday correction, bullion prices remain near record highs, supported by strong global cues and safe-haven demand.
