Today, moderate rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and strong winds is likely at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Ranipet, Tiruvannamalai and Madurai.

Winds may reach speeds of 40 to 50 kmph in some areas during thunderstorms. Residents are advised to remain cautious during periods of strong winds and lightning.

Chennai Weather Forecast for August 16

On August 16, light rain is likely at one or two places in the Western Ghats districts, Cuddalore, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur, Chennai, Ranipet, Madurai and Dindigul districts.

Chennai and its neighbouring districts may therefore continue to see cloudy conditions and occasional showers.

Chennai Rain Forecast for August 17

On August 17, moderate rain is likely at one or two places in Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur districts.

Light rain may also occur at a few places across other parts of Tamil Nadu and in Karaikal.

Rain Likely Till August 18

The weather system is expected to bring rainfall opportunities across parts of Tamil Nadu until August 18. Rain intensity may vary from one location to another depending on local atmospheric conditions.
