TNEB Simplifies Name Change Process for Household Electricity Connections
The Chief Engineer of the Commercial Division, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), has announced new guidelines to make the process of changing the name on household electricity connections faster and easier.
According to the circular, delays were being caused due to the demand for multiple documents from applicants. To streamline the procedure, Form 2 (consent from the previous owner) is no longer required.
For cases involving sale, division of shares, or gifting, applicants will need to submit any one supporting document such as the sale deed, property tax receipt, or court judgment, along with a letter of consent.
In situations where the name change is due to the death of a senior family member, applicants must provide an inheritance certificate or a recent property tax receipt with an affidavit.
The circular also instructed chief engineers to take steps to raise public awareness about the revised process to ensure smooth implementation.
