IIT Madras Admissions 2026: Key Dates, Courses, Fees and Eligibility

IIT Madras is accepting admissions for its 2026 academic session across undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes through various national entrance examinations.

For B.Tech admissions, candidates must qualify JEE Advanced followed by JoSAA counselling. The JEE Advanced 2026 examination was held on May 17, with results announced on June 1. JoSAA counselling is currently underway, with the final seat allotment scheduled for July 16.

Admission to M.Tech programmes is based on GATE scores followed by COAP counselling, while M.Sc admissions are conducted through IIT JAM and JOAPS counselling.

For MBA admissions, candidates are shortlisted based on CAT scores, followed by a written test and personal interview conducted by the Department of Management Studies (DoMS).

The institute offers programmes including B.Tech, M.Tech, MBA, M.Sc, BS, BS-MS, MA, EMBA and PhD. The total course fees range from approximately ₹1.5 lakh for PhD programmes to ₹17 lakh for the Executive MBA, while the B.Tech programme costs around ₹9.39 lakh.

IIT Madras continues to be one of India`s highest-ranked engineering institutions, securing the No. 1 position in the NIRF Rankings for both the Engineering and Overall categories.

The institute has also introduced the Science Olympiad Excellence (ScOpE) admission scheme, allowing outstanding national and international Olympiad performers to gain admission to undergraduate programmes outside the JEE Advanced route.
