Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple Kumbabhishekam: 285 Special Buses to Operate

A total of 285 special buses will be operated to facilitate the travel of devotees and the general public attending the Kumbabhishekam of the Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple.

The Kumbabhishekam is scheduled to be held on September 17, 2026. Ahead of the event, the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) has announced special bus services on September 16.

From Chennai Kilambakkam, 50 special buses will operate to Madurai. In addition, 30 buses each will operate from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Ramanathapuram, Sivakasi, Rajapalayam and Theni.

Further, 25 buses will operate from Aruppukkottai, 10 buses from Virudhunagar and 20 buses from Dindigul, taking the total number of special buses to 285.

Within the Madurai region, additional buses will also operate from Thirumangalam, Melur, Thiruppuvanam, Vadipatti, Natham, Poovandi and Usilampatti, with 20 buses from each location.

The transport authorities have stated that the number of buses will be increased or adjusted based on the travel requirements of devotees and the general public.
