New Tech City to come up in Chennai - Free Wi-Fi zones in Chennai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Madurai etc!!

In the future, free Wi-Fi zones would be provided in the public places in Chennai, Avadi, Tambaram, Madurai, Covai, Trichy and Salem etc in phase-1. The main objective behind this would be to make the information and opportunities accessible to everyone. This was mentioned by Mr. PTR. Palanivel Rajan, minister for finance.

He was busy presenting the Budget for 2023-24 and spoke about how in the internet age information was the basis of power and productivity. He added that to establish social justice and an inclusive society it was important that information and opportunities were accessible to all.

It is learnt that the government would launch the Simple Gov initiative so that the digital services could be provided in an easy and in a transparent way. An e-Governance fund of Rs 100 crores would be created to ensure compliance with the govt and time bound development of software.

Information collected is that the fund of Rs 100 cr would be used to finance key government initiatives of govt departments. To promote TN as a global hub for IT and ITeS, the government would establish Tamil Nadu Tech City in Chennai, Coimbatore and Housur etc. In the future, places like Erode, Chengalpet and Tirunelveli etc would have IT parks with an approximate built up area of one lak sq ft.
