Happiness Comes First

The world often presents us with false evidence.

We assume people are happy because they have wealth, success, power, relationships, or comfort.

But the truth is different.

Happy people are not happy because of these things.
They are happy first, and therefore they find joy in whatever life brings.

Likewise, unhappy people are not unhappy because of circumstances alone.
They are unhappy first, and so they find reasons to complain, criticize, and feel dissatisfied- even when life gives them much.

The same rain nourishes one person and irritates another.
The same opportunity excites one person and burdens another.

The difference is not the world.

The difference is the mind that experiences it.

Choose happiness as your starting point- not your destination.

When happiness comes first, gratitude follows.
When gratitude follows, life begins to look different.

Your inner state shapes your outer experience- not the other way around.
