Tamil Nadu Dengue Cases: 228 New Cases Reported in a Day

As many as 228 new dengue cases were detected across Tamil Nadu in a single day, according to the latest figures. With dengue cases continuing to be reported across the state, health authorities are closely monitoring the situation.

Tamil Nadu has been receiving intermittent rainfall in recent days. Changes in weather conditions can create favourable conditions for mosquito breeding, increasing the risk of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue.

The state recorded 133 dengue cases on September 15, followed by 283 cases on September 16, 244 on September 17, 253 on September 18 and 253 on September 19. A further 228 cases were reported yesterday.

In Chennai alone, 79 new dengue cases were reported yesterday. The total number of dengue cases reported in Tamil Nadu so far has reached 17,277.

10 Districts Reporting Higher Dengue Cases

According to district-wise data, dengue cases are reported to be relatively higher in Chennai, Chengalpattu, Coimbatore, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Salem, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Thanjavur and Viluppuram.

The Public Health Department has deployed more than 25,000 mosquito-control workers across Tamil Nadu to carry out prevention and mosquito-control activities.

With dengue cases continuing to rise in Chennai, there have been calls for mosquito-control and preventive measures to be strengthened across the city. Public awareness efforts regarding dengue symptoms, prevention and treatment are also being sought across the state.
