Christmas & New Year Special Trains Between Tirunelveli and Tambaram
To manage the additional passenger rush during the Christmas and New Year holidays, Southern Railway has announced special train services between Tirunelveli (Nellai) and Tambaram.
Special trains will operate from Tirunelveli to Tambaram on December 28, 2025, and January 4, 2026. On both days, the train will depart from Tirunelveli at 11.30 PM and arrive at Tambaram at 10.55 AM the following day. The service will run via Madurai, Dindigul, Tiruchirappalli, and Villupuram.
On the return journey, special trains will operate from Tambaram to Tirunelveli on December 29, 2025, and January 5, 2026. These trains will depart Tambaram at 3.30 PM and reach Tirunelveli at 4.00 AM the next morning.
A total of four special services will be operated under Train Nos. 06166 and 06165. The train composition includes 1 AC Two Tier coach, 2 AC Three Tier coaches, 9 Sleeper coaches, 4 General Second Class coaches, and 2 Divyangjan-friendly Second Class coaches.
Advance reservations for these special trains opened today at 8.00 AM at Southern Railway booking counters and through authorised reservation channels.
