CM Vijay to Launch Tamil Nadu Ration Card Distribution from Perambur on July 13 During First Official Constituency Visit

Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will launch the Tamil Nadu government`s much-awaited ration card distribution programme from Perambur on Monday, marking his first official visit to the Assembly constituency he retained after assuming office. The visit also signals the government`s decision to roll out a key welfare initiative from the Chief Minister`s political home turf.

As part of the programme, the Chief Minister will personally hand over the first 10 ration cards to eligible beneficiaries, formally launching the State-wide distribution drive that has been eagerly awaited since the TVK government assumed office.

Vijay was elected from both Perambur and Tiruchy East in the Assembly elections before vacating the Tiruchy East seat and retaining Perambur. Although he had earlier visited Tiruchy to thank voters, Monday`s event will be his first official engagement in Perambur as Chief Minister.

During the visit, Vijay will inaugurate the revamped Perambur MLA Office, which has been upgraded to provide residents with easier access to government certificates and other citizen services. He will also launch a dedicated constituency mobile application designed to improve public grievance redressal and enhance the delivery of government services.

The Chief Minister is also scheduled to inspect the nearby Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus depot to review infrastructure and commuter facilities. He will later interact with local residents and participate in various welfare programmes.

Perambur, one of Chennai`s largest working-class constituencies with a significant industrial and labour population, has become a key focus of the government`s development agenda. According to party sources, the Chief Minister has directed officials to expedite infrastructure development and welfare projects across the constituency.

Meanwhile, the Chennai City Police have made extensive security and traffic arrangements ahead of the visit. A convoy rehearsal was conducted around the MLA Office and adjoining roads on Sunday to assess security deployment and traffic management, while officials completed preparations for the Chief Minister`s first official programme in the constituency since assuming office.
