CM Vijay Witnesses Walgreens MoU for Chennai Capability Centre, 250 Jobs

US-based healthcare and pharmacy company Walgreens has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu Government to establish a capability centre in Taramani, Chennai.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. The proposed Walgreens Chennai capability centre is expected to create around 250 employment opportunities, adding to the city’s growing business and technology ecosystem.

Located in Taramani, the new centre will benefit from its proximity to the Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) IT corridor, one of Chennai’s major technology and employment hubs. The facility is expected to support Walgreens’ business operations while creating new opportunities for professionals in Chennai.

The development further adds to Chennai’s expanding Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem and highlights the city’s role as a destination for global companies establishing business and technology operations.
