Chennai-Arakkonam EMU Train Services Cancelled Till May 31 Due to Maintenance Work

Southern Railway has announced the cancellation and partial diversion of several suburban EMU and MEMU train services in the Chennai – Arakkonam section due to maintenance and technical works at the Arakkonam railway yard.

According to railway officials, special track and technical maintenance works will be carried out on May 17 and 18, resulting in changes to suburban train operations till May 31.

As part of the maintenance schedule, several Chennai-Arakkonam-Kuppam suburban train services will remain fully cancelled during the affected period. Early morning EMU and MEMU train services departing from Chennai towards Kuppam at 4:00 AM, 5:00 AM, and 6:25 AM are among the trains cancelled completely.

Similarly, late-night train services departing from Kuppam towards Arakkonam at 9:15 PM and 11:00 PM will also remain cancelled till May 31.

Railway authorities have also announced partial cancellations for multiple suburban train services operating from Moore Market Complex towards Arakkonam. Trains departing at 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, 5:15 PM, 5:45 PM, 6:05 PM, 6:40 PM, 7:45 PM, 8:20 PM, 9:10 PM, and 10:55 PM will operate only up to Tiruvallangadu instead of Arakkonam.

In the return direction, EMU and MEMU train services will originate from Tiruvallangadu during the maintenance period and continue towards Moore Market Complex and Chennai Beach stations.

Southern Railway has advised passengers and daily commuters to check revised schedules before travel and plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the maintenance work period.
