Raja Muthupandi Wins Commonwealth Silver; Tamil Nadu Announces ₹30 Lakh Reward

Tamil Nadu weightlifter Raja Muthupandi has won a silver medal in the men’s 65 kg weightlifting category at the Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow, Scotland.

Representing India, Raja Muthupandi lifted 126 kg in the snatch and 160 kg in the clean and jerk, achieving a combined total of 286 kg to finish second and secure the silver medal.

Following his achievement, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay announced a ₹30 lakh cash incentive for the athlete in recognition of his performance.

Raja Muthupandi, who hails from Thoothukudi district in Tamil Nadu, received congratulations for his medal-winning performance and contribution to Indian sport.

The Tamil Nadu government said the ₹30 lakh incentive would be presented to Raja Muthupandi in recognition of his achievement at the international competition.
