Egg Procurement Prices Surge at Jet Speed in Namakkal, Bringing Cheer to Poultry Farmers
Poultry farmers in Tamil Nadu are expressing happiness as egg procurement prices have been rising sharply at jet speed, offering much-needed relief to the industry.
In the Namakkal region, which is one of Asia’s largest egg production hubs, nearly 6 crore eggs are produced every day. The National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) is responsible for fixing the daily procurement price of eggs.
On November 21, the egg procurement price was fixed at 610 paise per egg, and the rate remained unchanged for 21 consecutive days. However, a sudden upward trend began recently.
- On the 12th, the price was increased by 5 paise
- The day before yesterday, it rose by another 5 paise
- Yesterday, the price saw yet another 5 paise hike
With this rapid increase, the egg procurement price has now reached 625 paise per egg. The steady rise in prices has brought a sense of optimism and relief among poultry farmers, who had been facing prolonged price stagnation.
