Cleanliness Drive Conducted in All 781 Parks Across Chennai
The Greater Chennai Corporation has completed an intensive cleanliness drive across all 781 public parks in the city as part of its efforts to improve sanitation and maintain public spaces.
According to officials, the civic body clears an average of 6,300 metric tonnes of solid waste daily, along with nearly 1,000 metric tonnes of construction and demolition waste. As part of periodic special drives, intensive cleaning works are being carried out at public places such as bus shelters, roads, bridges, burial grounds and parks.
Earlier, on January 5, cleanliness works were completed at 1,373 bus shelters across Chennai. Continuing the initiative, sanitation workers undertook deep cleaning operations in all city parks, including the removal of unwanted shrubs, plant waste and litter.
The Corporation said officials were appointed to monitor the works to ensure effective and timely completion. The civic body reaffirmed that such cleanliness drives will be conducted regularly to ensure clean, safe and hygienic public spaces for residents.
