Redesigned EPIC Cards for New Voters in Tamil Nadu

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that all new voters in Tamil Nadu will receive redesigned, colourful Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) with new numbers at no cost after the final electoral roll is published on February 17, 2026. Around 7.28 lakh Form 6 applications have been submitted across the state, with 5.58 lakh received during special camps on December 27 and 28.
The EC has also identified around 12 lakh unmapped voters. Notices are being sent through Booth Level Officers, and recipients must produce proof of citizenship or blood relationship. The notice, verification, and objection process will run from December 19 to February 10 before the final roll is released.
