IPPB Introduces Mutual Fund and Insurance Services: Invest from Home

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has introduced digital mutual fund and insurance services for its customers as part of its 9th anniversary celebrations. Customers who wish to invest can now do so easily through digital channels. They can also access insurance policy services online.

IPPB made these announcements on September 1. The information was also confirmed by the government news agency, the Press Information Bureau (PIB). Customers can now use digital services from the comfort of their homes to invest in mutual fund schemes and purchase insurance policies.

With options such as life insurance, health insurance and general insurance, customers will no longer have to visit different offices to access these two services. The bank has stated that it is expanding its services beyond financial transactions to include investments and financial protection.

Mutual fund and insurance services will now be added to the list of digital services available to IPPB account holders. However, PIB has not specified which mutual fund schemes will be available or which insurance companies` policies will be offered through the platform. There is also no information yet regarding the fees and commissions that will be charged to customers. More details are expected to be announced in the coming days.

IPPB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer R. Viswesvaran said that the bank is expanding its digital services to help ordinary customers invest in suitable investment schemes and obtain insurance policies more easily.

As of March 31, 2026, IPPB had a total of 13.25 crore customers, of whom 77% were from rural areas. The new service has been introduced with these customers in mind.

Customers have deposited a total of ₹29,104 crore with the bank so far. IPPB`s services are being provided across 5.57 lakh villages and towns through 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh post office employees.

In addition, IPPB has introduced services such as SHG savings accounts for self-help groups and rural micro-entrepreneurs. Customers holding Surakshit Savings Accounts are also provided insurance coverage of up to ₹25,000 in case of online fraud.
