Tamil Nadu Rain Forecast: Showers Likely for Next 4 Days; Chennai May Get Light Rain

The Chennai Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has forecast light to moderate rain in parts of Tamil Nadu over the next four days, particularly in the Western Ghats and northern coastal districts.

A weak trough currently persists in the lower atmospheric levels over coastal Tamil Nadu, creating favourable conditions for rainfall across parts of the state.

Rain Forecast Until July 31

Today, isolated areas in the Western Ghats may receive light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds of 40–50 kmph.

Light rain with thunderstorms is also likely at isolated locations across the rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal.

Until July 31, isolated places in the Western Ghats and northern coastal Tamil Nadu are likely to receive light to moderate rain. Similar conditions are expected in Puducherry and Karaikal, while isolated light rain may occur elsewhere in Tamil Nadu.

Chennai Weather Forecast

In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy, with light rain possible in some areas.

The maximum temperature is likely to be around 38°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to range between 28°C and 29°C.

Meanwhile, temperatures crossed 100°F at 12 locations in Tamil Nadu yesterday, including Madurai Airport, Madurai city, Tiruchi, Nagapattinam, Cuddalore, Meenambakkam, Nungambakkam, Thanjavur, Tiruttani, Palayamkottai, Parangipettai, and Erode.

Fishermen Advised Not to Venture into the Sea

Strong winds of 40–50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, are expected over the Tamil Nadu coast, the Gulf of Mannar, and the adjoining Comorin Sea.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these sea areas due to strong wind conditions.
