Commuters and traders traversing the Chennai Coast - Tiruvannamalai railway route are celebrating the recent extension of services, a move that promises increased connectivity and convenience. However, amidst the jubilation, concerns have surfaced regarding the absence of essential amenities, prompting calls for additional measures to meet the burgeoning demand.

The eagerly awaited extension of the Chennai Beach - Velur Cantonment passenger train to Tiruvannamalai, greenlit by the esteemed Railway Board, officially commenced its operations on the 2nd of this month. Departing from Chennai Beach at the convenient hour of 6 PM, the train makes its journey to Tiruvannamalai, arriving at 12:05 AM. Departure from Tiruvannamalai is scheduled for 4 AM, with the train pulling into Chennai Beach at 9:50 AM the following day. Offering affordability alongside efficiency, the fare for this newly extended route is set at a pocket-friendly Rs. 50.

While commuters express gratitude for the expanded service, a pressing issue looms large: the absence of toilet facilities onboard. This glaring inconvenience has left passengers clamoring for a swift resolution, asserting that a daily passenger train must cater to such fundamental needs, especially given the diverse demographics of travelers, including devotees journeying to Tiruvannamalai.

In response to these valid concerns, commuters are advocating for the introduction of a fresh train service originating from South Chennai and terminating at Tiruvannamalai. Such a provision, they argue, is essential to meet the surging demand and ensure a satisfactory travel experience for all passengers. As the clamor for improved amenities gains momentum, railway authorities face mounting pressure to address these issues promptly and comprehensively, safeguarding the comfort and convenience of the traveling public.
