By the end of 2024, the construction of 2 flyovers in places like Tondiarpet and Vyasarpadi would be completed. This would ease the traffic congestion in these important places in north Chennai.
For the flyover in Ganeshpuram in Vyasarpadi, foundation pillar work and steel structuring work etc has been completed. In Tondiarpet, pillars have been erected and the flyover work is going on.
It is now brought out that the flyover in Vyasarpadi would be very useful especially during the monsoon season. This is due to the fact that the subway at Ganeshpuram gets inundated cutting off traffic to Vyasarpadi.
It was mentioned by GCC Commissioner Mr. J. Radhakrishnan that by the year end work regarding the flyover would be completed. Few days back, he inspected the flyover work is known. He added that dense traffic in north Chennai would be decongested. The issues in acquisition of land have been cited as the reason for the delay in the works that began in 2023.
The Vyasarpadi flyover that is being built at a cost of Rs 142 cr is 680m in length and 15m in width. The flyover would be present above the Ganeshpuram subway and suburban railway track.
