Vehicle entry charges for Kodaikanal, one of Tamil Nadu’s most popular tourist destinations, have been increased from January 1, causing surprise and concern among motorists and tourists.
Heavy Tourist Inflow During Holidays
Kodaikanal has been witnessing a large influx of tourists, especially due to the ongoing holiday season. Hundreds of vehicles enter the hill station daily, and entry fees are collected at the toll gate near Silver Cascade Waterfalls.
Revised Vehicle Entry Charges
The hike in entry fees was implemented without any prior announcement, leading to criticism from visitors. The revised charges are as follows:
Buses: ₹250 - ₹300
Goods vehicles: ₹100 - ₹150
Vans: ₹80 - ₹100
Cars / Jeeps / Light Motor Vehicles: ₹60 - ₹80

The sudden increase in toll charges has come as a shock to vehicle owners and tourists, many of whom were unaware of the revision until they reached the check post.
