The Phase II project, covering 116 km across the city, encountered delays last year due to issues with the appointed construction agency. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) terminated the contract, selecting a new firm to expedite the work. Commuters had expressed concerns over the slow progress on social media. The Sholinganallur to Siruseri stretch is a vital link in the 45.4 km metro network originating at Madhavaram. Officials assure safety measures, including improved lighting, as work recommences.
