On 1st of February, ITC Grand Chola would be buzzing with activities. On that day the Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers and Exporters Association or IFLMEA would host a leather fashion show. The show would have 150 exhibitors from foreign nations.
It was later brought to light by the IFLMEA chairman Mr. K.R. Vijayan that the annual event has been organised by the association since the year 2001. Finest footwear, garments and leather merchandise etc would be displayed. It must be noted that the show would have 450 exhibitors from 20 different countries. The event would also witness about 90 buyers from international brands.
Important piece of information is that the state of TN contributes about 40% of the leather exports in India. In this fiscal till October 2023, there has been a dip in the leather exports and this was mentioned by Mr. K.R. Vijayan. Various reasons like inflation and war etc have contributed to this. In abroad, winter sales have increased and the leather industry is expecting a boost of 20% in the next year.
