Kumbhibhshekham at Palani Lord Muruga Temple: Devotees delirious with chanting of Arohara!!

Maha Kumbhabishekham was performed today (Friday, 27th January) at the Pazhani Lord Sri Murugan temple, one of the 6 famous temples of Lord Muruga, after a gap of 16 years! During the Kumbhabhshekham, 150 Sivacharyas kept chanting the Veda mantras and the event was performed grandly! The fervent devotees’ chanting of ‘Arohara’ indeed split the sky!

Flowers were sprayed on the Rajagopuram (the main temple tower) and the ‘kalas’ by helicopter!

The Minister for the Religious Endowment of the State Government of Tamil Nadu, Sekhar Babu, participated in this sacred event. The grand event of the Kumbhabhshekham was telecast live on television facilitating devotees from all over the world to see the sacred occasion!

As per the tradition of ‘Agamas’ (guidelines), Kumbhabishekham MUST be performed once in 12 years. This was to be performed in this temple last in 2018 but COULD NOT BE PERFORMED! As such, after a gap of 16 years, Kumbhabhihekham was performed today (Friday, 27th January). Preparatory arrangements for this grand and sacred event had been in progress for the last 2 months in this temple!

The foundation for the sacred event was carried out on 18th January on the Rajagopuram (MAIN Temple Tower) and in the e other temple towers over the Sanctum Sanctorum of the deities! On 21st January, the ’Gaja, Pari, and ‘Aadhirai’ Poojas were performed in the Thiruaavinankudi temple! Holy water was taken from the Shanmuga River on behalf of the Archakas. . With the kindling fire for the Yaga Pooja to be performed taken from the Sun’s rays and the Special ‘Velvi’ pooja commenced on 23rd January.

The ‘Sakthi Kalasams’ was taken on a procession from the ‘Yaga Salai’ today (Friday, 27th January) at 8.30 AM with the chanting of ‘Thiruppugazh’ and ‘Devaram’!

Subsequently, with the spraying of the holy water on the temple tower and the Kalasams on the tower, the Kumbhabhshekham was performed!

Subsequently, the holy Kumbhabhihekham water was sprayed on the statues of the deities on the temple tower!
