The World Banks latest report on the vulnerability of Chennai roads is shocking!!

From the study that was carried out on the roads in Chennai for the last 2 years by the World Bank, it was confirmed that the roads over a distance of 93.2km in CMA are vulnerable during the spells of rains from 100mm to 256mm.
It was brought to light by the report that the rain spells of above magnitude would make the Chennaites inaccessible to the hospitals in 5 areas, fire stations in 6 areas, 3 MTC bus depots and termini, 3 suburban train stations. Point is that 29 bus routes in Chennai have been marked as highly vulnerable.
Information collected is that bus terminus at localities like Mandaveli, T. Nagar and Ambattur Estate, railway stations at Chetpet and Kodambakkam plus MRTS at Light House etc are vulnerable. There are locations with vulnerable hospitals and fire stations like Alwarpet, Chetpet, Egmore and Vadapalani etc.
In the event that was hosted by CUMTA or Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority and World Bank, this report titled `Building Resilience in Urban Transit` was shared. Multiple agencies in Chennai are in-charge of the disaster resilience & the study would help in coordination. This was mentioned by Mr. Gerald Olivier, Lead Transport Specialist of World Bank.
