To understand the bottlenecks present around Chennai Dr MGR Central railway station and on the adjacent roads in Chennai, CUMTA or Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority would be launching a study. Course correction would be done later.

The entry-exit points in places like Chennai Central railway station, RGGGH and Moore Market complex should be studied and signages must be introduced. This was according to some experts of urban planning.

To make way for the metro stations, many buildings present on the arterial PH Road were demolished. It has been a huge challenge for the traffic police to negotiate traffic on the stretch near Chennai Central railway station and near RGGGH.

It was brought out by Mr. Jeyakumar, CUMTA special offer that the main objective was to rationalise the traffic flow around the Central station including Wall Tax Road and Raja Muthiah Road. By this, there would be seamless movement for both vehicles and pedestrians. The conflict of movement of private vehicles, public transport and pedestrians near the Central Square have been highlighted.

According to Mr. Santhosh Loganathan deputy manager ITDP, the designated entry and exit points to the Central station, RGGGH and Moore Market must be studied well and course corrected if needed.

He then pointed out that the carriageway from the Ripon building`s signal to the North Fort Road was not uniform and there was a need to study road geometry. It was not clear whether the space earmarked for the bus bay was serving the purpose or used as a traffic lane.
