Full Moon Day Girivalam commences tomorrow in Thiruvannamalai!

The `Girivalam` on Full Moon Day for this month is set to commence tomorrow (Thursday, 11th August) morning!

Thousands of devotees vast Thiruvannamalai temple to have the Darshan of Lord Sri Arunachaleswarar

As there is a strong tradition to conceive the mountain of Thiruvannamalai as a form of Lord Siva, thousands of devotees visit Thiruvannamalai to undertake `Girivalam` on Full Moon Days – a walk around the bottom of the mountain on the backside of the temple of Lord Arunachaleswarar while praying! This Girivalam covers a distance of 14 km!

The devotees undertake Girivalam not only on the Full Moon Days every month but also on other important festival days!

The Full Moon Day for this month commences tomorrow (Thursday, 11th August) at 10.16 AM and concludes on Friday (12th August) at 8.00 AM!

With this auspicious occasion of Full Moon Day approaching, all preparatory activities to provide the visiting devotees with all the required facilities are in full swing!
