The steam engine EIR-21 is the oldest train engine! It was manufactured in England in the year 1855!

The engine ran on the tracks until 1909 during British Rule!

After this, it was kept on display in Jamalpur, Howrah for the public!

IT IS WORTH NOTING THAT THIS IS THE OLDEST FUNCTIONING TRAIN IN THE WORLD!  It is now being maintained at the Chennai Metro City`s Perambur Locomotive Works!

THIS TRAIN IS TAKEN OUT AND OPERATED ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS SUCH AS INDEPENDENCE DAY AND REPUBLIC DAY EVERY YEAR!

As such, on the 15th of August fast approaching, as a reminder of the long tradition of Indian Railways, THIS STEAM ENGINE IS ALL SET TO RUN BETWEEN CHENNAI EGMORE AND KODAMBAKKAM ON INDEPENDENCE DAY!

The engine has been taken out from the Chennai Perambur Loco Works for this special occasion and brought to Egmore Railway Yard!
