Connectivity to the new airport at Parandur by Shuttle service or High speed rail etc!!

After it was decided that the second airport would come at Parandur near Chennai, the question now in everyone`s mind is how the people would reach Parandur.
The travel time and cost to go to Parandur has been the subject of discussion for many now. It was brought to light by some experts that speedy, comfortable and affordable options to travel from Chennai were important.
Parandur site is present 59kms from the Meenambakkam airport and it would take nearly 90minutes or more to go to Parandur. Urban planning experts pointed out that the TN government would have to think about high speed rail or other transport options. The AAI already mentioned that they have got plans to keep both Meenambakam as well as the new airport at Parandur functioning simultaneously. For this to happen, the public must have a fast, cheap and comfortable access to the new airport.
According to an expert from IIT Madras, it would take atleast 5 to 7 years to chalk out a proposal and mobilise funds and build a high speed rail from Chennai to the airport at Parandur.He threw light on how the passengers would have to go to Parandur from Chennai in 15 to 20 minutes. Many passengers would not mind paying a huge fare to go to the new airport at Parandur. He concluded that it would be a cost oriented exercise for the government of Tamil Nadu and options would be needed for the public to travel to prevent the travel from becoming laborious.
The CMRL could think about extending the metro trains from the existing airport at Meenambakkam or from Poonamallee station till the new airport. He added that it could be point-to-point service as there would not be many persons from locations beyond the city limits who would be interested to travel to Parandur airport. Before the new airport becomes operational at Parandur, the TN government must decide as soon as possible about the type of public transport to Parandur.
Travelling by cabs to the new airport would not be easy as it would be highly expensive. There are chances that the public would sometimes be forced to pay the cost of flight fare also if they take a cab to Parandur. There might be several problems in the existing airport at Meenambakkam but people find it easy to go to the existing airport due to better connectivity and because it is within the city limits.
