What happened at the booster vaccination mega drive in TN yesterday?

On Thursday at 600 places across the state of TN, the first special booster vaccination drive was organized and atleast 50598 precautionary booster doses were given to healthcare personnel, frontline workers, elderly aged 60 years and above with comorbidities.
At the government hospital in Poonamallee, the special vaccination camp to administer booster doses was inaugurated. It is known that booster dose vaccination began in Tamil Nadu on 10th of January 2022. Special vaccination camps have been planned every Thursday to improve the vaccination in TN. Till now, 162,631 vaccination doses have been administered and 552754 people are eligible for the vaccinations. This was as per the health minister Mr. M. Subramanian. The number of eligible persons would cross 10lakhs by the end of January. In India it is only in TN that camps for booster doses have taken place.
In addition to the booster vaccination camps, regular mega vaccination camps would be organized every week at 50000 sites. In every mega camp 15lakhs to 30 lakhs persons have been getting vaccinated is known. In TN till now 33264751 persons have been vaccinated. This Saturday, the next mega vaccination camp will be held. In the Tiruvallur district, the vaccination coverage has been good and 88.6 % have been given the first dose and 63.4 percent have been given the second dose.
