Good News for citizens of Tamil Nadu State: Insurance Cover Scheme extended for 5 years!

A joint agreement was signed by the State Government of Tamil Nadu and the United India Insurance in Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s presence extending the Chief Minister’s Medical Insurance Cover Scheme for 5 more years.
The Scheme, Chief Minister Kalaignar Insurance Cover Scheme was commenced on 23rd July 2009 for facilitating the economically backward citizens to get high-quality medical treatments free.
This scheme has now been revised and expanded and jointly functioning with the Prime Minister’s Health Scheme. The scheme, currently in operation, is set to conclude with this month-end.
In this scenario, to facilitate the economically backward sections to benefit, the State Government of Tamil Nadu released a Government Order (GO) increasing the eligibility from the annual income limit of Rs. 72000/- to Rs. 120000/- on 16th December 2021.
As per this, in an event organised at Chennai Metro City MRC Nagar, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin released the Government Order to United India Insurance extending the Detailed Medical Insurance Coverage Scheme for 5 years from 11th January 2022.
Further, the Agreement was signed and exchanged between the State Government of Tamil Nadu and United India Insurance in presence of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. A Fund of Rs. 1248.29 Crores has been allotted for this scheme!
With this scheme, note that treatments including 11 continuous treatment systems, 52 Complete Testing Processes, and 8 super-special treatment systems under the 1090 medical and surgical systems can be availed by the economically backward citizens FREE in the Government Approved 714 Government Hospitals and 886 Private hospitals for a total of 1600 hospitals.
Apart from this, the scheme also covers 86 additional treatment schemes that have now been added to the medical insurance coverage scheme!
NOTE: THROUGH THIS SCHEME, 1.37 CRORES FAMILIES CAN AVAIL MEDICAL COVER UP TO Rs. 5 LAKHS PER YEAR!
