What is making everyone talk about the Kathipara Urban Square in Chennai?

In Chennai, there is a new attraction available now for the residents to relax and have fun with their families and friends!! Guess where?
On Thursday, 16th December 2021, the CM of Tamil Nadu Mr. M. K Stalin inaugurated the Kathipara Urban Square. In this place, it would be possible for the public to eat, play, shop and watch movies.
Spread across an area of 5.9lakh sq ft and constructed at a cost of Rs 14.5 crores, this multi modal transport hub has got many facilities such as parking lots, bus bays, eateries, play area etc. It was developed by CMRL and funds were provided by CMDA.
The superb piece of information is that this urban square would act as a connecting point. The square is surrounded by Ekkaduthangal metro station on the northern side and Alandur metro station on the southern side and Guindy metro station on the eastern side.
It is known that the Kathipara flyover is in the form of 4 leaf clovers and the place beneath is divided into 4 zones. In these 4 zones there is 62,322 sq ft area available for parking. Likewise, 33250 sq ft area is available as retail space and 32808 sq ft areas available for walkways and restrooms. The dining area would be available on a space of 9311 sq ft and children’s play area would be available on a space of 4884 sq ft.
It was later mentioned by a senior officer belonging to CMRL that the contract for construction and maintenance of this urban square was handed over to BMR Infrastructure for a time of 10 years. Many applications have been received with regard to retail spaces and the process would be started in January month. An employee belonging to the company threw light on how the outlets at the food courts would increase in the future. Currently there are 12 outlets at the food courts here.
A class11 student who had visited this place spoke about how he was so excited to be there at the Urban Square and how the place is a huge theme park without rides. He wanted to show this place to his friends also. A mother who came to this place with her kids mentioned that the place was a huge attraction and the walls with murals attracted her kids. It must be taken into note that the only issue yesterday was the flickering of lights as the lights turned on and off many times.
