Brindavan Street in West Mambalam has now caught the attention of many!!

The leak in the underground sewage line has led to some portion of the road to cave in once again. The MWD or metro water department officials have assured that the latest leakage would be set right soon.

It must be noted that the recent cave in is over 5m in diameter and this caving in has happened for the second time in this important street in West Mambalam. On Monday, a portion of the same road 100m away from the latest spot caved in and created issues for many.

It was mentioned by an official belonging to GCC that officers from the metro water department would come and repair the portion. He added that the caving in does not mean that the quality of the road was poor. A leak underneath the road would result in caving in and the MWD officials do not know the reason behind the sudden caving in.

As per an official belonging to MWD, there was no need to worry about using the stretch. He added that some leakage in the underground sewage pipeline would have led to caving in of the road. Trenchless technology has been used here and this could have disrupted the sewage pipes.

It is worthy to note that trenchless technology focuses on carrying out underground works like installation or repair with minimum disruptions. Normally, private or government agencies would coordinate with GCC for carrying out underground works. Involvement of MWD officials would prevent any disruption in the sewage lines etc.
