With the intensification of the northeast monsoon rainy season, there have been widespread rains all over the state of Tamil Nadu.

Especially in the districts of Virudhunagar, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukkudi, Kanyakumari, and Thenkasi, there have been very heavy rains with lightning and thunder.

Apart from this, there have been heavy rains with lightning and thunder in a few places in the districts of Madurai, Thirunelveli, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Mayiladuthurai, Nagappattinam, and Puducherry & Karaikkal.

There were widespread medium rains in the northern coastal districts and the delta districts.

There were intermittent rains in the forenoons, afternoons and nights as regards the Chennai Metro City. With the persistent heavy downpour, many areas, streets and roads in the Chennai Metro City have been flooded with this problem yet to be solved; the citizens have been encountering extreme hardships!

In the above scenario, the Indian Metrological Department (IMD) has informed that a new low-pressure zone is likely to be formed in the next 12 hours over the south Andaman Sea. This low-pressure zone is likely to intensify to transform into a deep depression zone in the next 48 hours and drift towards east and southeast directions towards the central Bay of Bengal.

As per the Indium Meteorological Department, due to the above development, there are prospects for very heavy rains on 2nd and 3rd December in the States of Andhra and Odisha. However, there may be no warning for rain as regards Tamil Nadu.

IMD has informed further that there are prospects for another new low-pressure zone being formed tomorrow (Wednesday, 1st December)  over the central-east Arabian Sea!
