This information would bring huge happiness on the faces of passengers in Chennai now!!

At important railway stations like Chennai MGR Central, Chennai Egmore, Tambaram, Chengalpet, Arakkonam and Katpadi railway stations etc, the cost of the platform tickets have been reduced to Rs 10.

The restrictions that were imposed to control the spread of Coronavirus infection have been eased. It is now said that due to this reason the Southern Railways or SR had reduced the platform ticket cost from Rs 50 to Rs 10 now. This was mentioned in the statement issued by SR.  From yesterday, this platform ticket cost reduction came into effect.

To avoid overcrowding at the railway stations due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the Chennai Division belonging to Southern Railways had increased the platform tickets to Rs 50. It is learnt that the pricing regulation has been creating huge discomfort for the passengers and the railway authorities have been asked to reduce the cost of platform tickets. After the Tamil Nadu government has brought more relaxations as Covid-19 has been brought under control, the urging from the passengers to reduce the rate of platform tickets has become more now. It must be remembered that on 23rd March in2020 the sale of platform tickets were suspended due to the lockdown for Coronavirus.
