A plan to set up branch cities surrounding the major cities in Tamil Nadu State!

Information has been exchanged during the presentation of the policy statement of the Tamil Nadu State Government Department of Housing and Urban Development that plans have been framed to construct supplementary/branch cities surrounding the major cities in the State of Tamil Nadu.
It was further explained that the main objectives of this proposal is reduce the traffic and other congestions in major cities by integrating the functioning of the sectors/departments of industry, transport, Environment, and Education to set up supplementary or branch cities surrounding each major city in the State!
It has been further explained in the policy presentation that there are plans to construct 9.53 Lakhs multi-storeyed apartments and houses for the economically backward citizens and those residing in huts/slums before the year 2030!
Moreover, this plan will help reduce the population congestion in the big cities. Apart from this, a Metro City Transport Council’ is being formed to develop the transport systems in Chennai Metro City and commence integrated activities!
The Mofussil bus Terminus being constructed in Vandalur Kilambakkam area will be completed and will commence functioning from March 2022. The buses to the southern districts of Tamil Nadu State will start from here. This Bus Terminus is constructed for Rs. 393 Crores.
